Our practice proudly includes the first board-certified periodontist in Reno, NV, bringing a long-standing commitment to expertise and specialized care for our community.
Dr. Amy French earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine. Immediately following dental school, Dr. French completed a general practice residency at Denver Health Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
She then completed her specialty training in periodontics at the University of Colorado, Denver, from 2011 to 2014. Dr. French is Northern Nevada’s first female, board-certified periodontist. In 2024, Dr. French founded the Nevada Premier Dental Forum, which is affiliated with the prestigious Seattle Study Club and provides continuing education to other dentists in the community.
Dr. Sima brings over 15 years of experience as a periodontist and implant surgeon to Sierra Nevada Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. Following his periodontics residency at the University of Toronto, he spent seven years at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and the Forsyth Institute, providing periodontal and oral surgical care, conducting cutting-edge research, and teaching.
He is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, has published over 30 research publications, and holds multiple awards for excellence in clinical, research, and teaching activities.
Dr. James K. Burnham earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee in 1999, followed by advanced specialty training in Periodontics through The George Washington University and the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in 2007. The State of Nevada also licenses Dr. Burnham to provide intravenous moderate sedation.
He is a Board-Certified Periodontist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the highest distinction in his specialty. He is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Nevada Dental Association, and the Northern Nevada Dental Society.
